Elfriede Burits

Integrative Nutrition Health Coach (INHC)

I work with people one on one to help them discover what's preventing them from a healthy lifestyle (food, exercise, toxic relationship, career...). Together we will incorporate things which give them vitality and energy.

I work according to everybody's personal needs, there is no pre-set plan from my side. I am very passionate about healthy cooking and will teach my clients how to prepare healthy whole foods from scratch.

Elfriede Burits

I am Austrian and mother of two children. Since 2013 we are experiencing expat life in the UK because of my husband’s job.

I grew up in a baker’s family, which led me to emotional eating. I started dieting when I was 13. By the time I was 16, I was close to an eating disorder. Fast forward to my early 30s, after years in the corporate world and after the birth of my second child, I suffered post natal anxiety and I again sought comfort in food. It was around this time that I learned about the importance of nutrition, its impact on mood, energy levels and well-being. For the first time I went on a diet and was not hungry. I turned to whole foods and started cooking myself. I quit sugar and reduced grains (mainly gluten free grains) to a minimum amount.

It dawned on me finally, that health starts in the kitchen. If we choose fresh, healthy whole foods and control what goes in our meals, we control our well-being. It’s that simple.

I wanted to learn more about how to treat your body holistically. That's when I found The Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN). It was everything I believed in. It adopts a holistic approach to well-being and happiness - which is exactly what I needed.

In 2016 I took a leap of faith and started my Holistic Health Coach Training at IIN, where, under the guidance of some of the world's leading nutrition and well-being gurus, I studied over 100 dietary theories and learned about the impact of nutrition and lifestyle choices on well-being.

In 2017, I proudly graduated from IIN as a certified Holistic Health Coach. I can't wait to help you benefit from my experience and learning.

What I Offer

I use a holistic and integrative approach.

Holistic means that I am not only looking at the foods you are eating, I will also be looking at your primary food which means areas like exercise, career, relationships and spirituality (ie. meditation). You can eat all the kale in the world, if your primary food is out of balance, you will not feel healthy.

I believe that physical and psychological food are very strongly interwoven.

Usually eating and lifestyle habits are indicators if you are living in balance or out of balance with your body.

I believe that everybody is unique - so there is no pre-set program from my side. During the coaching process we will find out what suits you best.

My main focus is on reducing/quitting SUGAR because I believe it’s the root cause for many diseases. It causes inflamation and speeds up the growth of cancer cells.

The second big player in our health is GLUTEN. Gluten can be toxic for us, even if we don’t feel an immediate affect in our gut but it can also harm our brain health. Alzheimer’s here we come….

Simple things can make big changes.

How I Work

  • Elisabeth, Italy
"After a few years of gaining weight, I had reached my all time weight record. For a few months, I tried to loose weight following advise from self-styled health experts and magazines. Nothing worked though, and I felt like I was on a constant diet, not enjoying my life and food in Italy, given the lack of any positive results. So, finally, I called Elfi. She took time to thoroughly understand my life style and eating habits. Elfi helped me identify, which changes in my lifestyle and diet would create the most sustainable impact, while still allowing me to enjoy my Italian food with family and friends. I loved the fact that she really paid attention to what was, and is, important to me and took that into consideration. She helped me develop a sustainable and enjoyable plan, which delivered fabulous results in a very reasonable time frame. Elfi was always there for me and went to great lengths to find delicious recipes that worked and continue to work for me. What a joy to then go shopping in Milan, asking for my dream clothes size and feeling all healthy and sexy at the same time. And what is more, I did not need to give up my prosecco...Thank you, Elfi."

"Elfi and I had been friends for some time when I started to struggle with living abroad and managing my energy levels. The advice Elfi gave me was life changing - started off slow and built up. She looked at everything holistically for me - lifestyle, sleep, diet and hydration. She was compassionate and knew exactly how to help. I have learned so much from her and I always look forward to our consults!"
